The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] took out a protest march to the office of the District Police Chief (Kozhikode Rural) at Vadakara on Saturday (June 20), accusing the special investigation team (SIT) on the ‘kafir screenshot’ case of falsely implicating activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) in the issue.Opening the march, CPI(M) district secretary M. Mehboob said the DYFI would not bow down before the conspiracy by the United Democratic Front and the police to target its activists. The protest comes days after the SIT arrested Jithin Bhaskaran, a local DYFI leader, in connection with the case related to the creation and circulation of a WhatsApp screenshot with communal overtones ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Vadakara.
