YSR Congress Party State general secretary and MLC Lella Appi Reddy has written to Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav seeking directions to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He also called for uniform procedures for the distribution and collection of enumeration forms across the State.Mr. Appi Reddy urged the Election Commission to undertake a statewide voter awareness campaign, thoroughly examine complaints relating to the bulk handling of enumeration forms by political functionaries, and take steps to prevent political interference in the functioning of BLOs. He also sought collection of voters’ photographs only through the prescribed application forms. To ensure the inclusion of electors residing in agency and remote tribal areas, Mr. Appi Reddy suggested alternative arrangements such as offline data collection mechanisms, extension of timelines and deployment of special teams. He also requested that updated electoral rolls be supplied to recognised political parties and their authorised booth-level agents.Stating that alleged irregularities, practical difficulties and other serious issues had surfaced during the implementation of the SIR, Mr. Appi Reddy said the above measures were necessary to ensure that the revision process was conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner. He urged the Election Commission to take immediate action in this regard. Published - June 20, 2026 07:15 pm IST
