Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have rescued 22 kidnapped victims in separate operations conducted in Sabon Birni and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State, following responses to terrorist attacks in the areas.

The military disclosed that the operations, carried out on June 18, 2026, led to the rescue of 17 passengers and five farmers who had been abducted by terrorists. However, one civilian was killed during one of the attacks.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, June 20, 2026, by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the first incident occurred when troops received credible intelligence that terrorists had blocked the Sabon Birni–Shinkafi Road at Kura Mota Village and attacked two civilian vehicles.

The statement said the terrorists abducted several passengers during the attack and killed one civilian.
