The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it struck southern Lebanon in response to overnight shelling by Hezbollah at Israeli troops, despite an earlier announced ceasefire.
The Times of Israel stated this in an article, Ukrinform reports.
"Overnight, the Hezbollah terrorist organization launched more than 50 projectiles at Israeli forces in southern Lebanon. Following the attacks, the IDF has been striking Hezbollah terrorist targets in southern Lebanon," an Israeli military spokesperson said.
Lebanon's civil defense agency said that 16 people were killed and another 12 injured as a result of strikes on the Nabatieh area in the south of the country.
