Kumaraguru Centre for Industrial Research and Innovation (KCIRI) has delivered its sixth indigenous defence project to the Indian Air Force (IAF). It is an advanced Intercom Control Selector (ICS) Tester for the Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft fleet. The testing unit was formally presented to Air Commodre M.V. Sridhar VSM, Air Officer Commanding, 5 BRD, at the Air Force Station-Sulur recently.Developed by the KCIRI Avionics Research Centre (KARC), the project marks a significant milestone in cutting-edge defence technology emerging from academic research ecosystems. The engineering team successfully overcame complex, legacy circuitry without external technical support to design and build the user-friendly, ruggedised tester entirely from the ground up.Before its formal induction, the ICS Tester underwent stringent environmental qualification standards and rigorous on-aircraft functional testing to secure formal operational certification. To ensure long-term lifecycle value and self-sufficiency, KCIRI also organised comprehensive training for IAF technicians at Sulur, a press release from KCIRI said.
