And if the idea of slipping back into your sad old cossie fills you with dread, you are not alone. If you're a C cup or above, shopping for swimwear can feel needlessly frustrating. There are fewer swimwear options for women with a fuller bust than there should be.But panic not. If you want to invest in something new the good news is there are some great options out there – you just need to know what to look for.To help decode what actually works, we spoke to Susana Lorena, founder of Notting Hill's swimwear and lingerie boutique Maison SL. She's one of London's leading experts in fit.'Swimwear is where women struggle the most,' she says. 'Particularly for those with a fuller bust, finding pieces that balance support, comfort and style can seem unnecessarily difficult.'Luckily, having spent more than 20 years helping women understand their shape and how to shop with confidence, and with a roster of clients ranging from fashion elite to Hollywood stars, Susana was willing to share the six swimwear rules every woman with a bigger bust should know.Always choose bra-sized swimwear with proper structureStandard small, medium and large sizing rarely delivers the support you need if you wear a fuller cup. Instead, look for underwired styles in your bra size. This is the foundation of good fit. Without it, you lose lift, shape and security. Bra-sized swimwear offers a far more precise fit through both the band and cup, helping support and flatter the bust properly.Support should come from the band, not the strapsA strong back clasp or secure tie is essential. The band should sit firm and level across your back. If it rides up or shifts, the fit is wrong and the bust will not be properly supported. Thin straps may look delicate, but they often dig in and do little to help. Wider, adjustable straps distribute weight more evenly and instantly improve comfort. If you choose a triangle or halter, make sure it is designed for a fuller bustA triangle bikini is not off limits for a bigger bust, but not all styles are created equal. The most flattering swimwear is not about covering up, but about fit. Look for thicker straps, a reinforced underband and proper cup construction. Avoid flimsy styles that rely on fabric alone.Be clever with print and colourBold prints can exaggerate a fuller bust and make it appear larger. Smaller prints, clever panelling or well-placed blocks of colour can help to create a more balanced silhouette.Choose shades that complement your skin tone rather than overpower your frame.Fabric and construction matter more than you thinkChoose swimwear with a high Lycra content and quality lining. It will offer better hold, improved longevity and a smoother silhouette. Many well-made one-pieces also provide subtle shaping through the body.Cheap fabrics quickly lose tension when exposed to chlorine, heat and suncream, while premium fabrics retain their shape and support season after season.Dress for your shape, not just your sizeBust shape, shoulder width and torso length all affect how swimwear fits. If your bust sits wider, look for side support or balcony styles. If you are fuller on the bottom, opt for structured tops with fuller cups to balance proportions. If your bust is softer, moulded or lined styles can create a more lifted shape. Small adjustments like these make a significant difference to the overall look.READ MORE: The best swimsuits to try if you're tummy-conscious SHOP: The most stylish swimwear available now that will definitely sell out by summer
