Sources said the anxiety grows ahead of the 2026 local government elections on November 4, 2026.
Among the municipalities repeatedly criticised over governance failures are Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality, Mafube Local Municipality, Masilonyana Local Municipality and Kopanong Local Municipality.
