Jerry Hall – hailed in this month’s edition of fashion bible Vogue as ‘sublime’ – turns 70 in a few days and she’s celebrating with a lavish bash in the grounds of her glorious art-filled manor home near Henley.

There will be a marquee in the garden – with a sprung floor for dancing – and all of the iconic supermodel’s favourite things: her children, her grandchildren, her cigarettes and her beloved rosé wine.

But it is the guest list that offers the most illuminating insight into how Jerry will be entering her eighth decade.

For along with close chums such as make-up entrepreneur Charlotte Tilbury and artist Tracey Emin, she has invited her most famous ex, Mick Jagger, who is still one of her closest friends. I’m told that Mick, his fiancee Melanie Hamrick and their nine-year-old son Deveraux are regulars at Jerry’s home for Sunday lunch and all three are expected to attend her birthday party on July 4, two days after she passes the actual milestone.

So cosy is their friendship that Jerry was, I’m told, one of the first to be informed of the couple’s engagement a few years ago. She is said to have offered ballet dancer Melanie advice about the art of being Mick’s companion, a role which she likens to being the wife of an ambassador. As if that were not evidence enough of how important family is to Jerry, she has even extended an invite to the woman once called a ‘marriage wrecker’.
