Powerhouse Crusaders hybrid player Leicester Fainga'anuku will miss the opening All Blacks tests of the year after suffering a fracture to his lower leg.The injury Fainga'anuku suffered in last Friday's semi-final loss to the Chiefs is expected to rule him out until late-August at the earliest. That would mean the 26-year-old misses selection for All Blacks coach Dave Rennie's initial squad of 34 for the Nations Championship tests in July against France, Italy and Ireland, to be unveiled on Monday. He could also be in doubt for the All Blacks tour of South Africa that starts in early August."Leicester Fainga'anuku sustained a fibula fracture and high ankle sprain in the Crusaders' semi-final against the Chiefs on Friday, June 12," a Crusaders statement said."He doesn't require surgery for this injury and his anticipated return to play will be 10-12 weeks."It is a heavy blow for Rennie after the Fainga'anuku proved his versatility for the Crusaders, playing out the second half of the season in impressive fashion as an openside flanker. He impressed with his ability to bust tackles in heavy traffic and offload key passes. This came after having played all 12 of his tests - and most of his career - as an outside back.
