The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday (June 19, 2026) alleged that since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in Delhi, there has been corruption in issuing tenders for various works. AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that specifications of tenders were being changed to benefit some selected people.“Since yesterday, an FIR has been circulating on WhatsApp and most of the people forwarding it are associated with the BJP. The FIR was registered at Laxmi Nagar Police Station on June 18. According to the FIR, the complaint was filed by one Shweta Arora, wife of Rajeev Arora. In her complaint, the people against whom allegations have been made are described as individuals who are very close to the BJP and the BJP-led Delhi government,” Mr. Bharadwaj said while addressing a press conference. He alleged that as per the FIR, a person close to the BJP and who had held posts in the party in the past, visited the complainant’s house and demanded his commission in connection with irregularities in Health Department tenders. “A dispute reportedly arose over that commission. There were abuses, threats to life and other incidents,” he said. “Ever since the BJP government came to power in Delhi, reports of corruption in tenders have been a common trend in dailies. Whether it is tenders related to tent houses used for Kanwar management or tenders concerning medicines, equipment, bedsheets and other supplies for hospitals and dispensaries, serious allegations are being raised,” Mr. Bharadwaj said,He alleged that every time, the accusation is that by changing the specifications of tenders, selected contractors are benefitting crores of rupees. The Delhi BJP did not respond to the allegations. Published - June 20, 2026 01:06 am IST
