Father's Day is this Sunday, June 21, and restaurants across the U.S. have deals and discounts to help you celebrate Dad.
Consumer sentiment continues to dip, but when it comes to Father's Day we are still going to spend to honor our fathers. President Richard Nixon made the third Sunday in June officially Father's Day in 1972, according to History.com. (President Woodrow Wilson made Mother's Day a national holiday in 1914.)
Father’s Day spending is expected to reach a record $27.9 billion this year, according to the National Retail Federation's annual survey, conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics. That's up about 16% from a year ago.
More than half of Father's Day celebrators (55%) plan to treat Dad to a special outing, surpassed only by greeting cards (60%) and clothing (58%). The average person is expected to spend $227, up from $199 a year ago, the group said.
If dining out is part of your Father's Day plans, here are some deals and specials. Remember to check local restaurants and businesses' social media accounts for other possible promotions.
