Lampard's current terms are due to expire in 2027 Dan Mullan/Getty ImagesJune 19, 2026 11:39 am EDT Updated Coventry City are close to agreeing a new three-year deal for head coach Frank Lampard.Lampard, whose current terms are due to expire in 2027, led Coventry back to the Premier League after a 25-year absence by winning the Championship title last season.The proposed contract would keep him at the club until 2029.Coventry’s 2024-25 promotion campaign was the former midfielder’s first full season in charge, following his appointment in November 2024 when the side were 17th in the table.Lampard — who had overseen a top-six finish in 2024-25, losing to Sunderland in the play-off semi-final — has won over 58 per cent of the league games at the club.Before arriving at the CBS Arena, he had an 18-month spell in charge of Chelsea, the club he represented nearly 650 times as a player between 2019 and 2021, before 12 months as Everton manager.He returned to Chelsea on a temporary basis in 2023 during a turbulent campaign following the sackings of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.Lampard’s managerial career began in the Championship with Derby County, whom he guided to a play-off final defeat to Aston Villa.His appointment at Coventry followed the dismissal of popular manager Mark Robins, who guided Coventry through financial troubles to promotions from League Two, and then from League One to the Championship.Lampard’s Coventry side learned their 2026-27 fixture list on Friday, facing away trips to Arsenal and Manchester City in their opening three weeks back in the top flight.The Athletic reported on June 12 that Coventry had an offer for goalkeeper Carl Rushworth rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion. The 24-year-old played in all 46 Championship matches under Lampard last season.
