Racing's most glamorous event has been in full swing all week as racegoers enjoy Royal Ascot's sunshine and refreshments - but it appears a day at the races can get a little too much for some revellers. Around 290,000 people are this week flocking to the Berkshire racecourse for the five-day event, which runs from Tuesday with the Queen Anne Stakes until Sunday, with many visitors already putting their best fashion foot forward for the occasion. However, this year's festivities - coinciding with the UK's impending heatwave - has seen attendees exhausted after fun-filled days of sunshine. Royals and celebrities alike have been immaculate at the famous racecourse, with Catherine, Princess of Wales, making her first appearance in two-years with her husband, Prince William, on Tuesday. King Charles and Queen Camilla also made a royal appearance in the parade ring on Friday for racing's most fashionable occasion, Ladies Day, joined by Princess Anne, Zara Tindall and Hollywood actor Stanley Tucci. Known as the jewel in the crown of the UK racing calendar, unsurprisingly, indulging in Royal Ascot's drinks offerings does not come cheaply. The cheapest bottle Champagne available will set visitors back £210, while the most expensive option - a Cuvee Dom Perignon Blanc - is priced at £560.So perhaps it is the high prices - coupled with the rising temperatures - that has seen some Royal Ascot visitors pictured exhausted at the end of a day's racing. A man and a lady were pictured on the grass resting after the day's action - with the gentleman appearing to have collapsed into deep sleep One racegoer swapped her heels for a more comfortable option – a pair of flip-flops Another lady was spotted resting against a wall on the ground among her friends, with the strap of her dress having regrettably fallen down Another woman casually lay on the ground alongside her group, with another woman sitting beside her This woman had to be carried away from the bustling event by a gentleman in a more comfortable shoe style One man was pictured beside a police officer in a less-than-shevelled state, with his tie loose and shirt unbuttoned Two more ladies - one puffing a vape - looked fed up as they perched on the pavement The heat got too much for many - this racegoer opted to begin his journey home topless And others battled with footwear: Here one avid Ascot punter gets a little help from a medic These Ascot customers sat down on the ground after a day's racing - and the man in glasses looks like he has had a tiring day
