No injuries were reported among the 211 passengers and crew, Kyodo News reported.
The device is believed to belong to a passenger.
Cabin crew extinguished the fire using an onboard fire extinguisher after a crew member reported smoke at around 1:10 p.m., Japan Today reported.
As a precaution, the aircraft returned to its parking stand and later departed for London after safety inspections were completed.
