The movies always pull on the heartstrings and send older viewers on a nostalgic adventure back to their childhood.‌And new cast member Greta Lee, who plays tablet Lilypad, has revealed she cried at the latest edition despite being part of the production. A specific scene involving Greta and her co-star Joan Cusack - who plays Jessie - was "devastating".‌It comes after Bonnie, who became the toys’ owner at the end of Toy Story 3 when Andy headed to college, is given Lilypad by her parents. While the girl struggles to make friends, the toys have a mission to help her.And as she takes her first steps online thanks to Lilypad’s connectivity through ‘the Pond’ to her classmates’ devices, there is trouble brewing.‌Speaking to Metro, Cusack said of the scenes: "When those girls make fun of Bonnie, there’s some cruelty in it, which I can’t believe they captured so well. It took my breath away. I can’t believe they captured that."The latest offering sees Buzz Lightyear and Woody take a step back from the limelight as the production features more heavily on Jessie. Cusack admitted the switch came as a surprise to her.She has been the character's voice since she was introduced in the second helping in 1999. Speaking of her new frontline role, Cusack went on: "There really weren’t any discussions. It was just, I got a phone call saying, “It’s gonna be Jessie’s story”. I was like “Whaaat?!” and then so excited.‌"But then you just do little parts, you don’t know what everyone else is doing until you see the film, which is kind of wild."Revealing she only knew little snippets of the storyline, she said she was stunned with how it all came together and the impact it is likely to have. And Greta agreed, saying it was a "slow reveal" to her.Article continues belowBut she called it "dreamy" and gushed over the franchise, saying each movie has it's own way of mirroring real-life issues, despite being animated and about toys.
