Boasting icons such as Dames Helen Mirren and Joanna Lumley as brand ambassadors, the French name has been a stalwart on the beauty scene for decades. As a 42-year-old beauty journalist, I’m always keen to try products focusing on longevity and favour buys that promote overall skin health. So, I was interested to hear about Lancôme’s new rénergie collagen+lift-xtend cream. With claims that it can rebuild up to 10 years of collagen loss and offer firmer, tighter skin, its formula is based around three collagen-related active ingredients. Inspired by Korean beauty and the thread-lift procedures offered in an aesthetics clinic to help prevent collagen loss, the cream contains collagen threads, collagen peptide and copper tripeptide. But can it really offer noticeable firming effects? I spent a fortnight testing this new skincare buy to find out.Read more: Augustinus Bader skincare, reviewed by a beauty expert The cream is inspired by Korean beauty and thread-lift procedures (Helen Wilson-Beevers)Read more: Best anti-ageing serums, tried and tested Lancôme rénergie collagen+lift-xtend creamSize 50mlKey ingredients Collagen threads, collagen peptide and copper tripeptideSkin type All, including sensitiveWhy we love it Intensely nourishingSoothing on sensitive skinCreates smoothing effectTake note A bit priceyShow morePresented in a futuristic-looking metallic pot, Lancôme’s rénergie collagen+lift-xtend is a thick cream that has a glossy finish and it feels fresh and cooling when applied to skin. I have sensitive skin that is prone to irritation, and noted that the moisturiser has a soothing element as it glides onto the face. This made me looking forward to application in the morning and evening. While it’s suitable for all skin types, the rénergie collagen+lift-xtend cream is billed as offering anti-ageing benefits. The main ingredients are collagen threads (which Lancôme says is a structure similar to the collagen our body produces), plus collagen peptide and copper tripeptide. The cream was created to offer a thread-like texture for a firming effect. Its formula does gel together to create a consistently level skincare layer. I was pleased to see a smoothing element appear straightaway, and noticed a toned finish to my skin that made it look more even. This lingered for hours, as did its softening feel to my skin. When worn on bare skin, I saw a healthy finish that improved dullness and it layers really well with make-up products too. There’s no pilling, and it offers a priming base. As the cream delivers intense nourishment, my skin felt hydrated with a supple look and feel. While I will need to keep testing the cream to gauge long-term results, I’m really impressed with what I’ve seen so far. It is a luxury skincare buy, which is reflected in the premium price. However, the rénergie collagen+lift-xtend cream is reduced from £85 to £68 at the moment, so now’s a great time to invest if you are looking to try it.Back to topIs Lancôme’s rénergie collagen+lift-xtend cream worth it?Lancôme’s rénergie collagen+lift-xtend cream is a soothing and smoothing skincare buy that made my skin look healthy and improved signs of dullness, while layering well with make-up too.
