As per the Budget details, a new framework will be introduced to streamline the execution of works through the PWD.

The revised Budget presented for the financial year 2026-27 by Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Friday gives thrust to the renovation and improvement of the road infrastructure in the State. A total of ₹5,952.29 crore has been allocated for the Public Works Department (PWD) in this Budget.As per the Budget details, a new framework will be introduced to streamline the execution of works through the PWD. As part of this, the existing PWD manual will be revised. A ‘Road Architecture Wing’ will be formed to upgrade and modernise the roads, bypasses and junctions in Kerala to international standards.All public works roads in Kerala will also be upgraded to Bituminous Macadam (BM) and Bituminous Concrete (BC) standards in five years. Road inspection system will be implemented with the help of AI technology similar to that in foreign countries.The Vizhinjam-Navaikulam Outer Ring Road project will be implemented immediately to link the Vizhinjam Transshipment Terminal with various parts of the country and improve transport connectivity. A total of ₹100 crore has been allocated for this in the first phase.The Punchakolli bridge will be built to benefit hundreds of people in the Punchakolli-Alakkal tribal village. An elevated highway will be built from Kohinoor on NH-66 to Kozhikode Airport. The work on the skywalk in Kottayam will be resumed. The ring road project in Pathanapuram town has also been figured in the Budget.It has been decided to construct the Gosree-Bolgatty parallel bridge, and land required for the construction of Goshree-Mamangalam road will be acquired. Steps will also be taken to construct ROBs in Wandoor and Vaniyambala and ₹5 crore has been allocated for the works.In addition, ₹2 crore has been set aside for the initial works to construct the Mysuru-Nanjangud Road (Nilambur Road) as part of the Wayanad package, while ₹10 crore has been allocated for completing the first phase of land acquisition for the construction of the Oradamppalam-Manathmangalam Bypass Road in Perinthalmanna constituency.
