Dolly Munien.
THE recent termination of DA councillor Dolly Munien due to misconduct allegations, has ignited discussions on political accountability and ethical standards within South Africa's political landscape.
Last month, the DA issued a statement advising it had terminated the membership of Munien, the ward 61 (Tongaat) councillor.
At the time, Dean Macpherson, chairperson of the DA in KwaZulu-Natal, said the decision to terminate Munien’s membership followed an internal investigation into allegations that she had misappropriated Christmas vouchers provided by the municipality for senior citizens.
He said the party’s disciplinary committee thoroughly examined the evidence, and gave Munien an opportunity to respond to the allegations.
