The European Commission is planning to unveil preliminary findings as early as next week indicating the probability of additional restrictions for Amazon Web Services and Microsoft’s Azure under Digital Markets Act competition rules, Bloomberg reported.

Following a probe that began in November, the Commission has determined that Azure and AWS appear to meet the requirements of a “gatekeeper” under the DMA, meaning they will qualify for the added restrictions, the report said, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.

A final decision building on the initial determination is reportedly expected by the end of the year, but timings could change.
