Liam Bowes, suffered from flu-like symptoms for two weeks.

A Sydenham mother, whose eight-year-old son died after initially having flu-like symptoms, is warning parents to be extra vigilant and not take mild symptoms lightly.

This is the second incident involving a child who died after displaying flu-like symptoms.

Carla Bowes said her son, Liam Bowes, suffered from flu-like symptoms for two weeks.

She said Liam, a Grade 2 pupil at Charles Hugo Primary School, first developed a high temperature before his symptoms progressed to coughing, vomiting and diarrhea.
