Price freeze ordered as Mindoro town declares state of calamity

CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO, Philippines — Prices of basic necessities in Puerto Galera town, Oriental Mindoro have been automatically frozen following the declaration of a state of calamity due to a prevailing water supply shortage, authorities announced.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Mimaropa said the price freeze took effect after the Puerto Galera Sangguniang Bayan approved Resolution No. 06-198-2026 declaring a state of calamity in the municipality.

Under Section 6 of Republic Act No. 7581, or the Price Act, as amended, prices of basic necessities are automatically frozen at their prevailing levels during the existence of a calamity, emergency, or similar condition.FEATURED STORIES
