Rogers Communications has accused former CityNews political reporter Tina Yazdani of failing to uphold the company’s journalistic standards despite formal warnings, arguing it had just cause to terminate her employment, according to a statement of defence filed Thursday in response to her $650,000 wrongful dismissal lawsuit.
Rogers alleges Yazdani manipulated video footage and social media content in ways that “misrepresented the facts” and “portrayed speakers in a negative light” despite receiving feedback and warnings from managers. In its statement of defence, the company said four incidents between December 2025 and April 2026 demonstrated a pattern of misconduct that led them to conclude Yazdani was “unable or unwilling to comply with Rogers’ journalistic standards.”
