She remains hospitalized, but is showing “encouraging improvement,” according to a statement from running gear company Fleet Feet, for whom she is the Chief Running Officer.“True to form, she has already asked about her mile time and whether she won. The outpouring of support from across the running community has been extraordinary,” the company wrote in an Instagram post. “We appreciate the compassion, encouragement and concern shown for Jenny and her family, and we are grateful to be part of a community that continues to rally around them.”Fleet Foot’s statement did not describe what caused Simpson’s medical emergency.Simpson ran for Team USA at the Beijing Olympics and the London Olympics, then won a bronze medal in the 1,500 meters at the Rio Games, becoming the first American woman to medal in the event.
