The United Arab Emirates has provided support to strengthen the World Health Organisation’s response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in Africa, under the directives of UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The support, channelled through the UAE Aid Agency, is aimed at bolstering international efforts to contain the spread of the disease, particularly the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, which health authorities have identified as a growing cross-border threat.
UAE Minister of State, Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, said the intervention reflected the country’s commitment to humanitarian action and global health security.
“The UAE is determined to extend its support in combating diseases and epidemics that threaten humanity anywhere, in coordination with governments, international organisations, and relevant regional institutions,” Sheikh Shakhbout said.
He described the Ebola outbreak as a serious public health concern requiring an intensified international response.
