June 18 (Asia Today) -- South Korea's Gaon Cable has supplied transmission cables worth tens of millions of dollars for a solar power complex in the United States, the company said Thursday.
The deal comes as the cable manufacturer expands its presence in the U.S. power infrastructure market.
Rapid construction of artificial intelligence data centers has intensified concerns about insufficient electricity supplies in the United States. Investment in new power sources, including solar generation facilities, and transmission networks has consequently increased.
Industry officials expect U.S. demand for power generation facilities and transmission networks to rise further as South Korea implements legislation supporting strategic investments in U.S. artificial intelligence and energy infrastructure.
