Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion, with the defender signing a long-term contract.The Athletic reported on June 16 that the Spurs had agreed a £52million ($68.6m) fee with the south-coast club for the 26-year-old defender, whose deal was set to expire in June 2027.The centre-back, who is currently with the Netherlands at the World Cup with now Tottenham teammate Micky van de Ven, will be reunited with Roberto De Zerbi, whom he worked with during the Italian’s spell as Brighton coach between 2022 and 2024.The move is separate to the future of Spurs defender Luka Vuskovic, with Brighton remaining interested in the Croatian despite seeing a £35m bid rejected.
