New Delhi: Union home minister Amit Shah on Thursday held talks with US ambassador to India Sergio Gor in New Delhi, focusing on enhancing bilateral security cooperation, particularly in areas of counterterrorism and counternarcotics.The meeting comes amid growing strategic engagement between India and the US and follows interactions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the recent G7 Summit in Evian, France. In a post on X, Shah said, "Met US ambassador to India Sergio Gor in New Delhi today. Had a detailed discussion on further strengthening cooperation between India and the US in the area of security, particularly in counterterrorism and counternarcotics.""Under the leadership of PM Modi, India is firmly committed to advancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and ensuring that people of both nations benefit from the bilateral relationship," he added.After his interaction with Shah, Gor said, "Had an excellent meeting with HM Amit Shah. We had a fruitful discussion on enhancing collaboration to combat terrorism, shield our people from narcotics and illicit drugs, secure our borders, and jointly bring criminals to justice in both nations."On Wednesday, Gor said, "A highly productive bilateral meeting took place today between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi. The two leaders held substantive talks on trade, regional security, and deepening economic partnership on the sidelines of the G7 Summit."
