Electrify America recently opened a new, public EV charging station in Santa Barbara, California, with 20 fast chargers delivering up to 350 kW. The new charging station also possesses a 1.9 MW energy storage system, which is Electrify America’s largest battery system to date. The battery can be used to store electricity from solar power and during periods when there is low electricity usage.
“This large-format station showcases the next evolution of charging infrastructure, combining high-power charging with integrated battery energy storage to deliver reliable capacity at scale. By incorporating advanced storage technology, we’re able to bring Hyper-Fast charging to locations that have traditionally been difficult to serve, while making it easy for customers to integrate charging into their daily routines in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara,” said Rob Barrosa, Electrify America President and CEO.
One of the advantages electric vehicles provide is they can be run on electricity from solar power, wind power, geothermal, and hydropower. Gas and diesel vehicles can only be operated using harmful fossil fuels.
