HBO Max has long offered a discount if you pay upfront for a year of service. Now the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned service is dangling an even bigger price break in a new summer promo.

The special discounted yearly pricing is $78.99 for the HBO Max Basic With Ads plan; $132.99 for the Standard plan; and $164.99 for the Premium plan. After the 12-month period, those rates will go back to the standard prices (which are currently $109.99, $184.99 and $229.99 per year plus applicable taxes, respectively).

Eligible subscribers can take advantage of the special pricing ahead of the Season 3 premiere of HBO original drama series “House of the Dragon,” debuting Sunday, June 21.

Meanwhile, HBO Max is running the one-year price discount as Paramount Skydance’s deal to merge with WBD is pending. Paramount execs have said they expect to merge HBO Max and Paramount+ in some way once the merger closes, but they haven’t provided details about what that will mean for customers. The companies have said they expect the deal to close in September 2026, pending regulatory approvals and legal clearance.

HBO Max is the streaming home of HBO originals plus movies from Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, Turner Classic Movies, A24 and Studio Ghibli; programming from Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, HGTV, Food Network, TLC, ID, Magnolia Network, Discovery and TCM; and more.
