Kolkata: Crisis deepens in Trinamool Congress , with the former treasurer Aroop Biswas writing to a private bank in Kolkata and seeking an immediate restriction on operations in the party’s bank account. The account holds deposits worth Rs 675 crore, sources said.In the letter, Biswas, who is a former Sports minister, wrote in a letter and reportedly requested the bank authorities to stop withdrawals and maintain the status quo in the account until the ongoing dispute over the party’s leadership is resolved, people in the know said.The development is significant as the Trinamool faces an existential crisis and an organisational reshuffle was announced on June 5. Former MP Subhasish Chakraborty has been named as the new treasurer in place of Biswas. However, in his communication to the bank, Biswas asserted that he continues to be the party’s treasurer.
