SUPERSTAR Oswin Appollis makes a welcomed World Cup start against Czechia with coach Hugo Broos opting for a 4-1-2-1 formation in Atlanta.

Bafana coach Hugo Broos opted for a more balanced and offensive approach during their Group A clash against Czechia on Thursday night, abandoning the defensive setup he utilised in the opening game against Mexico.

Broos has deployed a 4-1-2-1 formation against Czechia. Compared to the 5-3-2 lineup he adopted against Mexico, he has dropped Nkosinathi Sibisi from the defence while retaining Khuliso Mudau, Aubrey Modiba, Ime Okon, and Mbekezeli Mbokazi.

In the engine room, Teboho Mokoena and Thalente Mbatha – who replaces the suspended Sphephelo Sithole – are tasked with linking the defence and attack, while Jayden Adams retains his spot as the team’s creative spark.

On the wings, Thapelo Maseko and Oswin Appollis are expected to provide fluidity and speed to support Iqraam Rayners, whose usual mobility and composure were absent during the match against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
