Proposals seeking to boost educational infrastructure for minority communities occupied centre stage with the Minister for Minorities Welfare Mohammed Azharuddin seeking approval to establish 10 new degree colleges for boys and girls each. The move is expected to make these colleges the go-to institutions for students of the junior colleges which the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society run. Mr. Azharuddin pointed out that while residential institutions currently offer intermediate education, some students were unable to pursue graduation due to lack of access to degree colleges. He informed Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu that 20 newly completed Minority Residential School buildings are ready for inauguration. Seeking support for ongoing development works, the Minister urged the immediate release of approximately ₹130 crore towards pending bills relating to various Minority Welfare department projects and institutions.
