Pamban road bridge, connecting Rameswaram to the mainland in Tamil Nadu, has recently bagged the ‘Indian Routes: Best Road Journeys’ award instituted by India Today Group.The spectacular sea stretch of the road journey from Ramanathapuram to Rameswaram offers breathtaking views of the turquoise waters of the Palk Strait. The citation points to the fact that it is a unique travel destination ‘where three modes of transportation converge — road, rail, and sea’. Driving across this engineering marvel, India’s first sea bridge, travelers can enjoy panoramic vistas of the sea. Celebrating this win, Tamil Nadu Tourism on its official Facebook page, said: “This engineering marvel is more than a route — it is a journey filled with history, heritage, spirituality, and spectacular coastal vistas”.India Today Tourism Awards, which was incepted in 2017, was established to celebrate excellence in Indian travel destinations and highlight the country’s diverse heritage, wildlife, and tourism potential.Since its inception, the awards have become an annual staple honoring top States, hospitality brands, and emerging tourist hotspots across India.
