The allegation was made during an emergency press conference held on Thursday after the group said its attempt to formally lodge a complaint against the judge was obstructed by security operatives.

The youth wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) of preventing its members from gaining access to the National Judicial Council (NJC) headquarters to submit a petition against Justice Peter Lifu.

The allegation was made during an emergency press conference held on Thursday after the group said its attempt to formally lodge a complaint against the judge was obstructed by security operatives.

According to the group, the petition was linked to a controversial court ruling in which Justice Peter Lifu ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC and four other political parties despite an earlier position taken by the Court of Appeal.

Speaking in a video seen by SaharaReporters on X, one of the stakeholders said the press conference became necessary following what he described as the denial of access to the NJC premises.
