A British actress has been charged after allegedly attempting to smuggle $296million worth of meth from West Africa into Australia with an Adelaide couple.Former EastEnders star Emaa Hussen was arrested in Girraween, western Sydney, and fronted Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.Australian Federal Police allegedly discovered anomalies in two shipping containers that had been sent from Ghana and arrived at Port Botany in April.An X-ray of the container allegedly found 320kg of methamphetamine, instead of bags of charcoal.The alleged drugs were removed from the bags and the AFP followed the shipping container to a facility in Girraween. A UK national is accused of visiting the storage facility and supervising several men as they unpacked the container and loaded the bags into a vehicle.The AFP followed the vehicle to a house in Blacktown, when they allegedly found 32 of the bags at the property.Officers seized electronic devices and a notebook. The couple are accused of attempting to rent storage units in Sydney.They were charged with dealing in identification information, namely identification documents, using a carriage service, with the intention that any person would use the identification information to pretend to be, or to pass themselves off as, another person for the purpose of facilitating the commission of an offence, being the possession of a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug.More charges include failing to comply with a 3LA order issued by the Magistrates Court of South Australia, contrary to subsection 3LA (6) of the Crimes Act (Cth). The pair appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court on May 1 and will reappear on August 2.AFP detective acting superintendent Trevor Robinson said the seizure of the alleged drugs prevented a potential 3.2million deals. Hussen's legal team did not submit any pleas or a bail application on her behalf when she faced court on Thursday.
