Sir Lewis Hamilton is now in a league of his own when it comes to Formula One and set a record that will be very difficult to beat.
Nineteen-years and four days. That's the distance between his first win in Formula One to his most recent. Hamilton has been Championship material for almost 20 years in a row.
Regardless of the sport, for an athlete to be competitive for that period is admirable. To stay on top puts him in the stratosphere in terms of being an elite athlete. I say all these things as an avid Max Verstappen fan. So you know, this is serious stuff.
After his win in Barcelona on Sunday, Hamilton has complete a career trifecta, winning in McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari colours. Hamilton is now breathing different air. He's driven naturally aspirated V8's at 18 000RPM, the ground-effect era turbo systems, oversaw the change into the hybrid era and is now winning in the "battery powered" era.
