$105 off/$295
Amazon is offering a rather rare deal ahead of its Prime Day sale on Lexar’s 2TB ES5 MagSafe SSD at $294.99 shipped. While the drive originally launched at around $200, it jumped up to $400 earlier this year, and discounts have been few and far between since then. Today’s deal knocks $105 off the current going rate and marks the lowest price we’ve tracked since the price hike. It’s available at a pretty good price at the moment, and this is one of the better chances we’ve seen to grab it at a discount if you’ve had your eye on this compact MagSafe-compatible SSD.
Lexar’s ES5 is a portable SSD with a magnetic design that lets it attach directly to the back of compatible iPhones. That’s particularly useful for users who shoot a lot of ProRes video, as the drive supports direct recording at up to 4K 120fps on supported iPhone models. It’s a pretty versatile USB-C SSD that works with PCs, Macs, tablets, and gaming handhelds, and it can hit transfer speeds of up to 2,000MB/s when connected over USB 3.2 Gen 2×2. We’ve only seen a handful of notable SSD deals this year, and this one is definitely worth a look if you’re after something that offers a bit more than just a standard portable drive.
