An education activist and the mother of a Stellenbosch University (SU) student has launched a petition questioning the handling of a criminal case linked to an incident in which a student’s belongings were removed from his residence room following a heated inter-residence football match.
According Cape Argus, Vanessa Le Roux, founder of Parents for Equal Education South Africa (PEESA), has raised concerns about the pace of investigations and alleged lack of progress in related criminal matters.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila confirmed that only one docket had been received in relation to the matter.
“The NPA can confirm that it has received only one docket – the Stellenbosch case. That docket has been referred back to the police for further investigation,” he said.
