June 18 (UPI) -- Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies is available for Canada's second Group B match at the 2026 World Cup, coach Jesse Marsch told reporters.

Marsch made the announcement Wednesday night. Canada, the No. 32 team in the FIFA world rankings, will host No. 49 Qatar on Thursday in Vancouver.

"He's been in training this week, and he'll be available [Thursday], and we'll see how the match goes and then make a decision on how we would choose to use him," Marsch said.

Davies, 25, sustained a hamstring injury last month during a Bayern draw with Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of a Champions League semifinal. The defender, known as one of the world's fastest players, totaled a goal and five assists over 23 games this season for Bayern.
