Tukutane Entertainment has issued an official public statement since the death of a University student Karen Lojore, who died in a crowd crush during a concert held at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi in December 2025.
In the statement released nearly seven months after the incident, Chief Executive Officer Khalhani Sichangi expressed regret over the company’s silence, saying it was guided by respect for the family and the need to avoid interfering with investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
“We understand that many people expected more from us and we fell short, for this we are sincerely sorry,” the statement read in part.
“Our silence has been guided by respect for Her family and loved ones, as well as our responsibility not to interfere with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations' (DCI) efforts to independently and thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding Her passing,” it reads.
The company added that the period following Karen’s death had been marked by “profound sadness” for her family, friends, and all those affected.
