Olivia Rodrigo is on the press run for her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, and it’s producing some interesting (read, horrifying) revelations. The US pop star appeared on KISS Radio where presenters Chloe Burrows and Tyler West asked her to list the things “wrong” with her, inspired by her song with The Cure’s Robert Smith, “What’s Wrong With Me”.As the conversation went on, West then asked Rodrigo, 23, the worst place she’d ever had to relieve herself. “I can’t think of anything for myself but I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show, and that’s been an experience as a performer that I have… smelled.”Olivia Rodrigo made the horrifying revelation during a KISS Radio interview (YouTube/KISS FM)Continuing to explain to the shocked hosts, Rodrigo cited the ball drop in New York City’s Times Square on New Year’s Eve as an event where attendees were likely to use diapers.“Everyone is wearing diapers… they sit there all day,” she said. “I think about it kind of often… it’s a real thing.”Rodrigo’s new album has received critical praise across the board. The Independent’s five-star review hailed its lavish production and the artist’s narration of a relationship from its giddy early days to the eventual breakup and painful aftermath. The pop star is also on course to clinch a hat-trick of number one albums in the UK, following her 2023 record Guts and her 2021 debut Sour. She could score another chart double if her single “Stupid Song” manages to top the Singles chart, having first achieved the feat in 2021 when Sour topped the albums chart at the same time as her track “Good 4 U” was a number one single.Enjoy unlimited access to 100 million ad-free songs and podcasts with Amazon MusicSign up now for a 30-day free trial. Pop star Harry Styles is currently in the middle of his record-breaking 12-night run at Wembley Stadium, while Beyoncé chose to do a six-night residency at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last year for her Cowboy Carter tour.Industry experts have pointed towards the rising costs of touring as one reason why artists prefer to play longer residencies in one place, while others say it is simply far more lucrative for a band or singer to let fans come to them. “Artists really like staying in one place,” an anonymous executive at one of Europe’s biggest concert promoters told The Telegraph in April.“The economies of scale doing multiple shows in one place are ginormous.”
