He won both the PGA Championship and the Open Championship last season, which now has him closing in on eternal glory. Scheffler touts two top-five finishes at this tournament (tied for second in 2022, third in 2023) and was knotted at seventh place in last year’s event. He has yet to play a PGA round at Shinnecock Hills.Regardless of the result, Scheffler is amid another dominant year. Spaun, who hits Southampton with a No. 9 ranking and the 21st spot in the FedEx Cup points race. His one first-place finish this year came in April’s Texas Open.
