A 38-year-old man was arrested in the Everest informal settlement after a joint police operation.
A 38-year-old foreign national was arrested in the Everest informal settlement in Springs on Wednesday after being found in possession of explosives believed to be linked to illegal mining activities.
The arrest was carried out by members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit and SAPS Crime Intelligence following a tip-off about suspicious activity in the area.
Officers said they spotted the suspect carrying a black bag and moved in to intercept him after he allegedly attempted to flee.
