The Ministry of Education has launched the Prime Minister Research Chair (PMRC) Scheme 2026, a flagship initiative designed to bring leading Indian-origin researchers working abroad back home to lead high-impact, cutting-edge research at the country's top institutions.
Announced by the Department of Higher Education, the scheme seeks to connect global Indian talent with India's growing research and innovation ecosystem.
Applications opened on June 1, 2026, at pmrc.education.gov.in, with a submission deadline of July 15, 2026.
