Mental well-being in the workplace has taken focus at Samoa's Labour and Employment Export Programme (LEEP), where staff attended their first specialised training to help manage stress and improve workplace support.

The Clinical Team Leader of The Salvation Army Samoa Sailivao Aukusitino Senio said that mental well-being in the workplace is important for staff health and performance.

The Salvation Army Samoa is a faith-based organisation that provides addiction recovery and social support services. The group delivered specialised mental health and wellbeing training to staff of the Labour & Employment Export Programme (LEEP) under the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour.

The training was delivered with support from Volunteer Services Abroad (VSA), following a request from the LEEP management, who recognised the growing importance of staff wellbeing and the need to better support employees in managing workplace pressures.

It was the first time such training has been brought within the organisation.
