Psychological Welsh thriller, The Light in the Hall, is back with a new cast22:03, 17 Jun 2026Actor Robert Glenister is just one of the stars leading season 2 of Light in the Hall: Still Waters.‌More than three years have gone by since The Light in the Hall, better known as Y Golau in Wales, last aired on Channel 4, focusing on a mum continuing to grieve the murder of her daughter.‌This time around, The Light in the Hall will delve into an entirely new story from the fictional Welsh town of Llanemlyn with an entirely new cast.‌A synopsis teases: "A controversial plan to expand the reservoir reignites long-buried tensions", adding: "Told across two timelines, the story begins in 1995, when activist Llyr Owen dies in a bombing and his cousin Rhys is jailed for the crime."Thirty years later, Rhys returns home to a community once again divided by protest. As trainee journalist Caryl becomes drawn into the story, her investigation begins to unravel hidden truths, exposing secrets that have shaped the town for decades, in a gripping drama of protest, guilt and generational reckoning."‌Robert, 66, plays Robert Davies in the new series, starring alongside the likes of Sian Reese-Williams, Mark Lewis Jones and Nia Roberts - to name just a few.The actor is best known for his roles in the likes of Hustle from 2004 to 2012, Spooks from 2006 to 2010, Sherwood in 2022 and 2026, and more recently A Thousand Blows in 2025.However, Robert isn't the only famous person in his family as his brother is none other than Philip Glenister.‌The actor, 63, is best known for his role as DCI Gene Hunt in the BBC series Life on Mars and its sequel Ashes to Ashes. Other roles include DCI William Bell in State of Play and Reverend Anderson in Outcast. More recently, Philip has appeared in the second series of After the Flood as Jack Radcliffe.It comes as Philip recently opened up about his famous family on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh. Philip and Robert's father, John Glenister, was a famous television director.‌Television director, John, who sadly died in 2024 aged 92, worked on the likes of The Six Wives of Henry VIII, Emma, Rumpole of the Bailey, Play for Today, Dennis Potter's 1971 biopic of Casanova, Marie Curie, A Touch of Frost, Alan Plater's On Your Way, Riley, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates and A Bit of a Do.Host, Alan, 77, said: "Philip, your dad is a famous director, John Glenister, very well known. With your brother as well, Robert, doing acting as well, was it a foregone conclusion?"Article continues belowTo which Philip admitted: "Not for me! Robert knew he wanted to act from a very early age, he did theatre locally. I always thought I would be in the industry but I always thought I'd be behind the camera a bit like the old man, you know. I'm still working on it but it never quite worked out like that!"He added: "It was terrible. Having one actor in the family is better than having two.
