Inde Navarette, the 25-year-old lead actress in the hit movie “Obsession,” is featured in David Protein’s new viral marketing and ad campaign. The David campaign is Navarrette’s first commercial and brand partnership.
Navarrette made headlines attending Chanel’s Tribeca Artists Dinner and has been driving major awards buzz for her critically acclaimed performance as Nikki Freeman in the horror film “Obsession,” which has broken box office records, grossing $286 million worldwide so far. Curry Barker, a 26-year-old YouTuber-turned-filmmaker, made “Obsession” in just 20 days on a $750,000 budget.
David’s new product is David Frozen Dessert, a line of high-protein pints designed to deliver the taste and texture of classic ice cream with improved nutrition. Each pint has 30 grams of protein with calories ranging from 210 calories (Vanilla Bean) to 260 calories (Cookie Dough, Triple Chocolate and Triple Peanut Butter) per pint and less than one to two grams of sugar.
The ad campaign riffs on the plot line of “Obsession” — a psychological thriller built around David’s Protein’s recently launched frozen dessert. It opens with Navarrette sitting alone in her apartment late at night, writing about the unsettling feeling that she is being watched. She is interrupted by a mysterious ice cream delivery, a vintage David commercial that appears on the TV, and a phone call from a stranger who seems to know her thoughts. The tension builds until the reveal that the thing stalking her is not a person at all, but the craving she can’t escape: David frozen dessert.
