The detective left Saint Marie to embark on a new chapter with Florence Cassell, portrayed by Josephine Jobert.‌After transmission, the performer posted a touching tribute to audiences, confirming he had formally departed the character following four triumphant years headlining the series.In an emotional statement, he expressed: "My time on Saint Marie has come to an end - what an end! New adventures await Neville, and he got to sail away into the sunset with his best friend. Who knows what happens for them next!".‌Reflecting on his 2020 debut with the Saint Marie police force, succeeding Ardal O'Hanlon's DI Jack Mooney, Ralf added: "I want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who watched and supported the show when I arrived four-and-a-half years ago," reports the Express."Coming into a series beloved by millions was a huge responsibility and I had no idea whether viewers would take to my interpretation of Neville's character, and indeed to me. I can't wait to see what happens next. It's been the ride of a lifetime."After his exit, Ralf sat down for a chat on BBC Breakfast. Speaking to presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt, he explained: "This last series was always going to be my last series.
