Alireza Zakani, the Mayor of Tehran, announced on Wednesday, June 17, that a funeral procession for Ali Khamenei will also be held in Iraq. Zakani stated that following a two-day viewing and farewell ceremony, Khamenei’s body will be processed on July 5 in Tehran, July 6 in Qom, and July 7 in Iraq.
According to Zakani, the itinerary includes three cities inside Iran and one ceremony abroad. Without providing specific details regarding the exact location of the ceremony in Iraq or the logistics of transporting the body, he only confirmed the three-day procession schedule.
Based on the officially announced schedule, the body of Ali Khamenei will be buried on July 8 in Mashhad. Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, was killed on February 28 during U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Tehran.
