British police announced on Wednesday, June 17, that Alireza Fallahi, a 45-year-old Iranian-British citizen, has been charged over his alleged involvement in an arson attack on the "Memorial for the Immortals" wall in the Golders Green area of North London.
The memorial wall featured photographs of protesters killed during the January demonstrations and is located in a neighborhood with a large Jewish population. Police stated that Fallahi is scheduled to appear before a London court on Thursday, June 18.
British police added that a 38-year-old woman who had been detained in connection with the fire has been released and will face no further legal action.
Helen Flanagan, head of London's Counter Terrorism Command, stated that bringing charges against the suspect marks "another step forward" in an ongoing investigation into a series of arson attacks targeting the Jewish community and Iranian diaspora in London. Police did not provide further details regarding the other related incidents.
